Creating sustainability - the business model
ELI intends to start with a small initial nucleus, which is
proposed to be supported for 24 months (starting phase)
for up-building the target structure, for establishing the
underlying networks and for applying for projects to
ensure the follow-up after the starting phase. The
business model to be established will consist of three
pillars (Fig. 3):
Fig. 3: Business model of ELI
Fund raising includes the application for research and
development projects on national and EU-level and other
activities, which are related to the scientific work of ELI.
Products are marketable results from the R&D work within
the institute, such as software, monographs and scientific
publication series, expert opinions and consultancy, which
are marketed directly or by licence systems (software).
Membership fees are allowances of the council members
for the ELI platform, project network and products: each
regular council member has free access to all ELI
products, can publish without additional fees in the
institute monographs and scientific publication series and
preferably members will be invited to participate in R&D
projects.
